Negotiating In Life

At every stage in life, in fact every day, one constantly has to negotiate, the very minute when one comes into any form of social contact. Maybe it may be something as trivial as offering your neighbor who has dropped in for a visit, a cup of tea. First the offer has to be made, the offer has to be accepted and the conditions for accepting the offer have to be put on the table. The visitor is willing to have that cup of tea as long as it is Oolong and accompanied by a plate of cookies. Your kitchen only has Assam tea of the black variety and freshly made biscuits. So you put out your offer and the visitor accepts the tea as long as it is black and strong and you have molasses along with the biscuits. And so on till you finally come to a solution that is acceptable all round and go into the kitchen to put the kettle on the hob.
So what were the stages in these negotiations before the tea was made.
First it was clear in your mind that you would have to play a good host and make that offer of a cup of tea. Your visitor as a guest had to show the good courtesy to accept the offer.
Then you had to make the conditions for the offer. Your guest had to make her preferences known and you had to indicate which of her conditions you could accept, and the alternatives that you could offer instead.
It is only after these were finally clarified that you could complete the contract, and actually go forward to make the tea.
So in all negotiations, be clear as to what you have in mind. Listen to the opposite party and get an indication as to what they have in mind. Organize your thoughts and decide on whether the requirements of your opposite number can in any way be met. If not, put on the table what you are able to give. Negotiate the differences and see whether you can come to a commonly agreed ground so that what you can offer is the same as what the opposite party can accept.
Once the term of the supply of a service or product is established, move forward to the price you are willing to accept. Listen to the counter offer that will invariably be made. Negotiate till both parties find the terms acceptable.
Conclude the deal and come out with a handshake and a smile.

What Can You Do For the Environment?

The environment and all the issues they bring to mind have become quite the fashion nowadays and everyone from school children, concerned citizens and politicians find it worth their while to spout their thoughts on the issue. But it is high time that we all stopped talking and started doing things in all seriousness, so that our actions make their own small contribution to the betterment of the environment.

Habits are hard to break

While I am thoroughly enjoying the present IPL series cricket being played in South Africa, what I am already feeling apprehensive about is the void that will come into my life once the series is over. What will I do for the 5 or 6 hours that I will have heavy on my hands. It is quite easy to get into the habit of watching TV, but try weaning yourself off the habit and you will see how difficult it is to do so. Anything that becomes a habit has the same problem, even if it is going down to the club and meeting friends. What one needs to do always is to keep varying one's routine, so that no one action fills up your time. And if one can have a series of pending things to do, all of which you enjoy, you never need be afraid of letting any one activity fill up your time.

Article rewriting

There is a demand for articles to be rewritten. The persons who give out such work are obviously profiting from it and selling these articles elsewhere. This is a mystery that I have been trying to solve but have not succeeded so far.

Are Somalian pirates such a big problem

When the world has so much of technology at hand, it is a mystery to me, why Somalian pirates are still able to get away with their constant predative activities. They themselves use quite primitive craft. Their only concession to modernity is the cellphones that they use. This itself makes them vulnerable and tracable and I wonder why the govermnents of the world do not make use of this to hunt them down and eliminate them altogether.

Good health from just Breathing

Healthy breathing is a must for a healthy lifestyle. Many people in today’s polluted cities have problems with breathing, and there are a few basic tips to healthy breathing that they can take advantage of. Besides the vehicular pollution, people are also prone to asthma and may have breathing difficulties caused by smoking. Difficulty in breathing may also be a result of being obese and a lack of general health. Maintain your weight at the levels suggested by your physician. Do not neglect your health. This could cause breathing problems that could even cause you to be admitted to a hospital.Practice deep breathing for at least 15 minutes, twice a day

Meghna is my life

This is my granddaughter Meghna. She is 9 years old. She is dressed for the annual day festival in her school where she is part of a group dance item. I just cannot imagine life without her in it, and thank the Almighty for bringing her into it.

Staying calm is healthy

To be healthy and stay calm are the two things that most of us would like to be. When you cannot stay calm and are under some sort of stress, the body reacts and you increase the chances of becoming prone to some chronic diseases. It is said that asthma is quite often caused by stress. Even cancer is said to have its origin in stress. And then when you have the disease, whatever it is, you become more stressed out. It is a vicious cycle that can completely upset the rhythm of your life.

Any experience with turnkey websites

A turnkey site is a web site with little or no content, or at least no content that is any way significant in the web world when it first makes its appearance. In spite of this, you can make money from turnkey websites.

This is what people say. But is it a fact. Anyone who has done this and succeeded.

Life style forum

This an Australian site http://www.lifestyleforums.info, but makes interesting reading

Stress in life

You are under stress if everything that you do throughout the day brings to you a sense of nausea and helplessness. Every job seems a chore that you just have to go through without having any choice in the matter.
You need to seriously examine all aspects of your life and job. Are you in a loveless marriage or are you in a dead end job. Examine your life in detail and do something to bring some change into your life, even if it means visiting a counselor or just looking for another job.

Favorite cartoons

Tom and Jerry are my favorite cartoon characters.
They are very good friends but are always teasing each other and fighting for the same thing. Tom is a cat and very hot tempered. Jerry is a mouse and full of energy. Jerry is very clever and is always making a fool of Tom.
Tom is tries to catch Jerry but he finds ways to avoid him and win whenever they have a fight.
I like watching Tom and Jerry even if I have seen the cartoon before. And I am only 69 years old

What is a friend?

A friend is always the reflection of your own heart and feelings. He can lift your spirit when you are down in the dumps, make the joy in your life even more so by the exuberance of his participation in it, and just be with you when you feel the need to be in contemplative. He is someone who hurts when you do, laughs when you laugh and is just there whenever you need his presence.

Choosing friends

Choose your friends wisely. You will then always have with you people you can trust, people you can talk with and use as sounding boards whenever you are faced with a big change in your life.

Friends for life

Friends are those persons who share with you all your joys and worries and are always there for you whatever the circumstances. You have truly been blessed with very good friends if they stay in your life for years together.
